Stay connected on both sides of the border.

EU roaming rules cover France and Spain, but Andorra is not in the EU, so roaming there can be expensive, and phones near the border can connect to Andorran networks by accident. A Europe eSIM that includes Andorra is often the simplest option.

Install before you travel, activate on arrival. Check that Andorra is included if you're going there.

Options

  • eSIM: buy online, scan a QR code, done. Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked.
  • Local SIM: French and Spanish operators sell prepaid SIMs; you'll need ID.
  • Wi-Fi: available in most hotels and cafés, and in many refuges for a small fee.

Coverage in the mountains

Coverage is good in towns and ski resorts but patchy or absent in high valleys, canyons and many refuges. Download offline maps and tell someone your route before hiking. The emergency number 112 works across all three countries.
